To Corinna,
I am writing this letter to you to explain how appreciative I am towards you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of the Mobility Dog training programme.
The reasons why I applied for this programme was for a few reasons, one being to give back to the community and to make someone’s life a little more helpful or easier, so to say, and also to teach me the meaning of responsibility.
Having a daughter out there, and being in this ‘world’ for the past decade, I haven’t experienced what it is like to take care of a child or something living except for myself. So to care for a dog and teach, feed, love, bath and play with it and more….it has allowed me to understand, and not only that, but to comprehend what it is like to exactly do that. Yes, there have been challenging times, but working through those times has reinforced being patient.
I will forever carry the many laughs and silly memories I have had with all the dogs I have been fortunate to be a part of, and knowing that I have done my best to give the dogs I have trained, to the best of my abilities, the opportunity to make someone’s life ‘better’, makes me smile in my heart, and that is priceless.
I would love to do this for as long as I can, however, I have to move forward with what I need to do, in order to meet the criteria for release.
I hope that you are happy with the effort I have put into the programme, as I have done my best to do so. I have always maintained that – “the true result is in the dog’.
In the future, I would love to be a part of the Mobility Team, if the opportunity ever arose. But the future is whatever it will be so for now, thank you both from the bottom of my heart, and I hope, that you continue to have a very joyful and fulfilling life as I have had on the Mobility Dog Programme.
Yours sincerely,
Prisoner X
