An exciting new partnership between Mobility Dogs and the Northern Region Corrections Dog Section.
At Mobility Dogs, we believe in the power of collaboration and the strength that comes from working together towards a common goal. That is why we are thrilled to announce our exciting partnership with the Northern Region Corrections Dog Section. This collaboration aims to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities while also providing support and assistance to the Corrections team and their dogs.
Understanding our roles, supporting each other
One of the first steps in forming this collaborative partnership is to foster an understanding of each other’s roles and areas of expertise. We have been working closely with the team manager and Corrections dog handlers to align our efforts and ensure a seamless integration of services. By sharing knowledge, skills, and experiences, we aim to create a comprehensive support system for both Mobility Dogs and the Corrections team.
Exploring alternate pathways
While our primary focus is on training Mobility Dogs, we understand that some dogs may display attributes or skills that are better suited for alternate pathways, such as becoming a detector dog. Through this partnership, we will begin assessing Mobility Dogs in training to identify those that may possess the qualities needed for a successful transition into a detector dog role. This allows us to explore new possibilities for these dogs and ensure they are given the best opportunity to make a difference within the Corrections system.
Working with Puppies in Prison handlers
Additionally, we have been actively involved in introducing the Puppies in Prison handlers to the NRCDS team. By collaborating together, we hope to provide insights and support that enhance the training process and the overall development of these incredible dogs.
Transforming lives together
The partnership between Mobility Dogs and the Northern Region Corrections Dog Section exemplifies the transformative impact that can be achieved through collaboration and shared objectives. By leveraging our respective strengths, knowledge, and experience, we are able to broaden our reach and we are grateful for this opportunity to work alongside the Northern Region Corrections Dog Section and to contribute to their important mission.
